Midnight Moments: 10.Red

"Theodore, did you get the reports done?" Perry asked as he passed by.

Perry was new at the company but he'd known Theodore since they were in high school. They were never fast friends during that time, but they had been in the same house for sports. There was definitely a certain respect that was exchanged between Perry and Theodore.

"Yeah, it's done. I'll print it out before the meeting. Going out for lunch?"

Perry nodded. He was going for a quick lunch at the corner-store. He always went there for sandwiches when he didn't have too much time to go around. He'd order a peanut butter toast and side of kimchi salad today. For drinks, he would be getting just a canned coffee.

At the coffee shop he would meet the woman who would become his wife one day. However, that wasn't the main story today. They looked at each other, flashing a quick smile while passing, completely unaware of their future together.

Getting his food, he brought it to the park. It was a good day to sit and watch the people walk around. Spring had come around and things were warming up finally.

The moment he walked, he noticed the lady from the store. What he actually noticed were the red shoes she was wearing. She was sitting down and having her lunch too at the park. Well what a coincidence it was.

Sitting on the bench besides hers, he initiated contact.

"So you work around here?"

"I work across town actually, but I'm just here for a short meeting."

"I see. That's great."

And they ate the rest of their lunch in respective silence. The lady left first and she nodded with a smile before she left. Perry finished his remaining toast that he had been slowly munching on in one bite after she left. Back to work it was.

In the office, Theodore had left he report on his table with a note. "Catch you after lunch." it said.

When it was time for the meeting, Perry took the reports and headed for the boardroom. Opening the door, he saw a familiar pair of red shoes.
